MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
I would like to take this time to wish you and your loved ones a happy holidays.
On Friday December 9 & Saturday December 10, 2016 the Senate a meeting. I would like to share with you this process:
- With all the committees (Tournament Committee, Website Committee, etc) we have a total of 42 active members who volunteer their time!
- On top of this, we have provincial representatives, regional representatives, and club representatives in each jurisdiction.
- Overall, this makes up the bulk of our work and communication within the SWKKF.
- Twice a year each group reports to the Senate work they have, progress they have made, milestones, and of course challenges which need to be overcome. The Senate works to provide guidance, finances, and ensures all work within the guidelines of the SWKKF (work within the constitution, SWKKF policies, etc). Sensei Shintani founded our organization. We work within the structure he has given us.
I would like to thank everyone who is a part of this process - there is a lot of great work being done!
In September 2016 Sensei Ron Mattie became our full time Chief Instructor. Sensei Ron Mattie accepted the position and will be available full time to assist in developing quality instructors across Canada. He has already been out to many dojo's in the country. His goal is to visit as many as he can - NO DOJO WILL BE LEFT OUT! We are very grateful to have him within our organization, and with the work he does.
The Senate is very much aware of many great black belts in our organization - and if you think of your experiences at clinics, tournaments, etc, many come to mind. I would challenge you to look past your dojo walls - perhaps invite some of them as guest instructors. Perhaps invite them as guest instructors to your tournaments - embrace their knowledge, share, work together. Our sense of community is what makes us great!
